Ceramic coating

The ceramic coating represents a critical part of the anilox roll for several reasons. It primarily brings the long lifetime of the roll, allowing a constant print quality over the years. The ceramic must be perfectly homogeneous, so that the laser engraving can be made with a high precision. For the fine to super-fine screens (300 to 600 lines/cm) the ceramic coating has to be very dense and should contain a low porosity level.

The company TLS is renowned since 1959 for its high quality ceramic coatings. It has coated since 1986 more than 50'000 rolls and sleeves, as a subcontractor for several European anilox manufacturers. It also supplies the offset press manufacturers with specialized rolls made of customized coatings. The production of TLS is ISO certified; the company moreover actively participates to the various research topics of the thermal spray technical association (GTS).

Ceramic coating specifications:
Superior hardness: 1900 HV-0.1
Chrome oxide purity of at least 99%

We apply on all the anilox rolls and sleeves an anticorrosion layer, made of plasma-sprayed nickel-chrome.
